Jean Quarcoopome is a self-taught Ghanaian art director and graphic designer who has gained widespread recognition for his mastery of Canva Pro, which he uses to create award-winning designs and artworks. In 2022, he self-published his 156-page Book 65, a book of art and design, which sold out within two months of its release. Over the past four years, Jean’s design work has earned him prestigious international accolades, including the Graphis Awards, Communication Arts Advertising Awards, MAD STARS Global Awards, and Art Directors Club Awards. Notably, he received three Finalist Honours from The Loerie Awards, the highest creative accolade in Africa and the Middle East, making him the first and youngest Ghanaian to achieve this.

Jean’s expertise has also led to him being invited as a judge for prominent global design competitions. He served on the MAD STARS global awards jury in 2022 and 2024 and was a jury member for the Applied Arts 2023 Student Awards. His design work is celebrated for its clean aesthetic, simplicity, and meticulous attention to detail, particularly in typography. His type-led design style has become his signature, and his ability to combine typography with strong conceptual ideas has set him apart in the design world.

As an art director, Jean’s work is deeply conceptual, drawing inspiration from thoughts, emotions, and ideas outside the world of design. Currently, he is researching African visual culture for his next book, further exploring the rich heritage and artistry of the continent. His passion for typography and innovative design continues to drive his creative journey, making him one of Ghana’s most exciting young talents.
