1 - At 13am, we aim to celebrate and showcase a broad range of creative roles, disciplines and skillsets. How would you describe yourself and your role within the creative world to those unfamiliar with your work?

I started my creative career many years ago as a fresh graduate in fashion design. However, after a while, I transitioned into the broad field of fashion retail and visual merchandising management, which became my longest professional experience. However, five years ago, I returned to my first love: painting. I began working with mixed media on canvas, paper, murals, sneaker customizations, and digital art. Now, I’m learning graphic design.

2 - Another aspect that sets 13am apart is our commitment to diversity and representation among our artists. Could you share a bit about your background and where you call home?

Romania is my first home, and Dubai is my second. I’ve been an expat in the Middle East since 2012.

3 - How would you define your artistic style? Has it evolved or undergone any changes over time?

My artistic style is evolving as I learn new things and experiment. If I were to name it, I would call it a combination of abstract, pop art, and figurative with a vibrant fluidity. It has definitely changed over time, but it remains quite 'consistent' when it comes to the line and color DNA.

4 - Can you walk us through your creative process? How do you transform an idea into a tangible piece of work?

The process is quite funny: documentation, then a very exciting start, new ideas emerge while working, the 'I hate it' phase kicks in, and the final stage is when I'm over it. Even if I want to add something, my mind tells me to step away :) Commissions are simpler because I work with client requirements.

5 - In terms of inspiration, where do you go to find this? Who were your main influencers and inspirations as you were growing up?

Anything can be an inspiration, but my art is mostly born from my state of spirit. Most of the time, ideas can show up anytime and anywhere, really. Growing up, I was very inspired by creating fashion, and I was really driven to be a fashion designer. Since primary school, I started sewing my own clothes (with the help of a professional), so... yes, I had every fashion magazine on the market. Back then, there was no internet, so TV and magazines were my sources of inspiration.

6 - What advice would you offer aspiring artists looking to establish themselves in the industry?

Start early, don’t give up, and don’t listen to anyone who says being an artist is not a real job. Just don’t delay; start now, even if you think you’re not prepared.

7 - Creative roadblocks affect many individuals in our field. How do you unwind and revitalize your creative energy? Are there any hobbies or passions you pursue outside of your work?

Yoga, Pilates, meditation, reading, hiking, and watching horror movies :)))

8 - Reflecting on your career, could you share a standout project or collaboration that you consider a highlight? How did the opportunity come about?

I loved my project with Converse for their mural and t-shirts at Dubai Mall. It was a collaboration brought to life with the help of an agency.

9 - Can you provide a little insight into your current projects and any upcoming plans you have in the pipeline? Is there anything we should be looking out for in the not too distant future?

I am planning to become an active presence in the digital art market and restart focusing on my sneaker customizations and live events.

10 - What has your experience been like collaborating with 13am thus far, and what motivated you to join forces with us?

It looks like a great, very professional platform. I love the diversity.

11 - Looking ahead, what would be your dream project or client to tackle in the future?

I would like to collaborate with more fashion brands.

12 - To conclude on a lighter note, imagine hosting a dinner party where you could invite four individuals, living or deceased, who would they be and why?

Picasso and Tesla - these people 'knew' things. And Alexander McQueen - he is my favorite fashion designer.

13 - If you were granted the power of time travel, which historical event would you choose to witness firsthand, and what intrigues you about it?

Not so historical but Woodstock festival from 1969.
